Fees & questions

No small print, no surprises. Here’s what things cost, how it all works, and answers to the questions people most often ask me. If yours isn’t here, just get in touch.

What does it cost?

Why a sliding scale? I believe support should be within reach, whatever your circumstances. A sliding scale lets you choose the fee that fits your life right now, and those who can pay a little more help make it possible for others to pay a little less. There’s no need to explain or justify your choice; I trust you to choose what feels right.

Questions people often ask

  • Book a free 30-minute phone call with me. It’s a relaxed chat with no obligation, to talk about what you’re looking for and which of us would be the best fit. If you decide to go ahead, we’ll agree a simple contract before your first session. Therapy and supervision aren’t booked directly online, so this conversation always comes first.

  • Sessions are up to 60 minutes. Sessions for children and young people are usually 45 minutes.

  • I see people in person at Studio 10, Coachworks, Dover Place, Ashford, Kent TN23 1HU, or online. Our associate therapists offer in-person and online sessions too, and we’ll confirm where you’ll meet when we arrange your first session. The studio isn’t wheelchair accessible, but we can arrange an alternative accessible room.  Just let us know what you need.

  • Pick the level on the sliding scale that fits your life right now. There’s no need to explain or justify your choice. We trust you to choose what feels right.

  • If you’re working with me, you can pay by contactless card or phone at your session, by bank transfer, or by invoice at the end of each month. If you’re working with one of our associate therapists, payment for the coming month’s sessions is usually made in advance. We’ll go through it all with you before you start.

  • Groups, workshops and team sessions are priced a little differently from one-to-one sessions. Each one is carefully prepared, with thought given to the group, the space and the materials, so that everyone feels safe and gets the most from the time together. Prices depend on the size, length and nature of the group, and you’ll always know the cost clearly before you book or commit. Just get in touch, and I’ll send you the details.

  • Please give your therapist at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange, by email or text. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, are charged at the full fee. We understand that health and life don’t always go to plan, and we’ll always respond with compassion.

  • Not at all. There’s no performing and no right or wrong. Your therapist may offer creative, mindful or body-based ways of working, but they’re always an invitation, never an expectation, and talking is always an option too.

  • Everyone’s journey is different. Some people come for a handful of sessions, others for longer. You and your therapist will review how things are going together regularly, and you’re always free to stop.

  • Almost always. There are a small number of situations where your therapist may need to share information to keep you or someone else safe, and they’ll explain these at the start. All our therapists discuss their work in confidential clinical supervision, without identifying you.

  • Yes. I’m an HCPC-registered dramatherapist and a member of the British Association of Dramatherapists. Every associate therapist at Compass Therapies is fully qualified and registered with, or accredited by, their own professional body. Everyone is insured, has regular clinical supervision, and keeps up their training. If you’d like to know more about the person you’ll be working with, just ask.

Compass Therapies isn’t an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E.
